Microcurrents

What is Microcurrent Therapy?

Electro-medicine is a field of study by scientists, researchers and doctors around the world that involves the use of low-level electrical currents to help relieve pain, heal wounds and aid in the rebalancing of cellular signaling and function.

Microcurrent therapy is being studied and used in a wide variety of chronic and complex care conditions as an effective medical treatment.

Our bodies are electrochemical organisms. What if you could treat the body by improving its electrical function? Microcurrent therapy does just that.

How Does Microcurrent Therapy Work?

Microcurrent therapy uses molecular bioelectricity in cell-to-cell signaling. Microcurrent is a clinically tested therapy treatment used to treat a range of conditions. There is compelling research in diabetes care, wound therapy, migraine treatment, COPD, and anti-ageing.

Ultra-low microcurrent produces a specific set of bioelectric signals that send pulses targeted at insulin-producing beta cells and the protein, glucose transporter type 4 (GLUT4) contained therein. These pulses reset the natural gap junction, helping the cells to restore homeostasis.

Ion flows and trans-membrane gradients produced by ion channels and pumps are key regulators of cell proliferation, migration, and differentiation. Now, instructive roles for bioelectrical gradients in embryogenesis, regeneration, and neoplasm are being revealed. There is speculation of “cracking the bioelectric code” with the same excitement that portended the cracking of the genetic code.

Treatment of diabetic neuropathy, sports injuries and wound healing using electrical current is well-established, as is the use of microcurrents for non-healing wounds.

Why should we look at microcurrent therapy as a new frontier in the management of chronic illness?

Reach – Microcurrent Therapy or Energy Medicine (“EM”) can address biological processes at their energetic foundations so it’s able to impact the full spectrum of physical condition. It optimizes the energies that surround, permeate and support body structure (e.g. cells, organs, blood, & lymph) and body function (e.g. immunity, respiration, cardiovascular). Microcurrent therapy also influences gene expression.

Efficiency – Microcurrent Therapy regulates biological processes with precision, speed and flexibility. EM techniques address systemic as well as specific disease factors and signals that are hundreds of times faster than chemical signals and provide instant feedback to the practitioner so interventions can be adjusted for intended outcomes.

Practicality – Microcurrent Therapy fosters wound healing and prevents illness with methods that can readily, economically and noninvasively applied.

Wellness-at-Home – Research is showing that microcurrent therapy can be used at home. It is safe, effective and easy-to-use.

Healthy and unhealthy tissues have distinct electromagnetic properties that can be detected in scanned images. This suggests that there is sound scientific evidence to tailor energy and waveforms that act as therapeutic agents in much the same way that we now modulate chemical structures with drugs.
